“I am not commissioner yet and I have not yet seen internal data regarding this matter so at this time i do not have a opinion on the timeline of completing the expanded shelter. However, as a stop gap measure until the new shelter is designed and completed, I would like to see the old animal shelter located on Camp Circle in Decatur be renovated and utilized in some way to temporarily ease overcrowding."
“I am not Commissioner yet so I have not seen any sensitive county related logistical data on this topic. Please keep in mind, when elected I will be serving the remainder of the unexpired term from the retired Commissioner that ends in December 2026. Then I will be facing reelection in May 2026. My answers are well intended speculation because, based on the information available, it is what I would like do. Overpopulation of animals is a problem and I will collaborate with the other commissioners to implement new policies, new procedures and new ordinances in to fix it.

“I am not commissioner yet so I have not seen the sensitive internal data from the county regarding this topic. However I agree that a county the size of DeKalb should keep up with accepted standards for staffing and training and I will collaborate with other commissioners to do so.”
“I am not yet commissioner but I will definitely need to see the internal county data on this topic. My understanding is that all DeKalb county employees had a pay raise to $17 per hour with a cost of living increase. New employees start at about $17.48 per hour. Again I agree DeKalb should be practicing excepted standards but given that staffing numbers is hard to get all over the metro area I would collaborate with commissioners maybe using out of the box thinking to meet these staffing levels.”
“I am not commissioner yet so I would need to see the internal county data on this topic. As a citizen I think spay and neuter service should be offered at a reduced or no cost by the county. There should be a certain amount of accountability from owners too. If they acquire an animal they should be able to take care of it's basic needs as they would a family member. Training would be great and maybe introduced in the schools so the next generation will understand the responsibility of owning and caring for a animal of any kind.”
“I am not yet commissioner and I do not have legal training so I would have to look at the internal county data and hear from the legal Department. I would collaborate with other commissioners concerning this topic and thinking further maybe there needs to be adhoc committee established to address all of the needs our our furry residents and bring recommendations to the commissioners.”
